David Blink is a sound artist, music educator, community music facilitator, and composer based in Mt. Shasta, CA where he is a music instructor at the College of the Siskiyous. He specializes in creating immersive sound journeys using multi-layered free improvisations that interact with the visual soundscape of a place which are recorded in 360 video and audio formats. He holds a Master's degree in Music Composition from Central Washington University and has completed his coursework and currently writing his dissertation (Creating Collective Effervescence Through Musicking at Burning Man: A Hermeneutic Phenomenological Study) for a Doctorate in Music Education degree at Boston University. Current projects include ‘Networking the Flight of the Monarchs’ which explores audiovisual telematic performance. Soundscapes from monarch butterfly reserves in Canada, Mexico and the USA will be live-streamed from open microphones and blended with improvised performances networked in real-time from 4 different countries. He also served for 6 years as Music Director for Burning Man’s Fire Conclave and directed the Ambient Drummers and Procession Band.
